Ransomware is computer malware that installs covertly on a victim's device after the authors of ransomware instill fear and panic into the victims, causing them to click on a link. It locks the system's screen or locks the victims' files unless a ransom is paid. Ransomware is similar to advanced persistent threat (APT).

Anti-virus programs are not always effective against ransomware because they are signature-based methods. However ransomware viruses are always updated with new versions, detection techniques (sandbox) must identify new ransomware and all of its variants, creating the necessary actionable intelligence for remediation.

Service Types

KSC’s Anti-Ransomware Solution service is available in 2 types.

1. Gateway Protection provides either firewall or E-mail gateway security. KSC service includes FortiSandbox, FireEye, etc.
2. Endpoint Protection provides client devices security. Malware protection program will be installed on client device. The program, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), uses behavior analysis. KSC service includes the solution of Sophos, Cisco, etc.
